What are Small/Community Groups?
Our weekly group studies provide our members with opportunities to fellowship, pray, and learn from God’s Word with other committed Christians. Members can participate in:
- Men’s and Women’s small groups which meet weekly to dig through a Christian book or Bible passage.
- Community groups that draw men and women from the same local region together once or twice a month for study and prayer.
- Each of these small groups carries with it the mission to build up brothers and sisters in the Lord by close, accountable, and committed fellowship. Our studies serve as a profitable adjoining activity to the corporate fellowship of CHBC experienced on Sunday morning and evening.
How to Find a Small Group on Church Center
- Open the Church Center App or Website:
- You can go to the web version (https://capitolhillbaptist.churchcenter.com/home) or download the app (https://churchcenter.com/setup).
- Select Our Church:
- If you're using the app for the first time, it will ask you to find your church. Search for Capitol Hill Baptist Church or use your location services.
- If you're already logged in, you should see our church's main page.
- Navigate to the "Groups" Section:
- On the bottom navigation bar of the app, tap "Groups."
- On the website, look for "Groups" in the main menu.
- Browse Available Groups:
- Category: Community Groups, Men’s Groups, Women’s Groups.
- Day of the Week: Monday, Tuesday, etc.
- Location: Specific neighborhoods.
- You'll see a list of all active small groups. You can filter these groups by:
How to Join a Small Group
- Select a Group of Interest:
- Once you find a group that seems like a good fit, tap or click on its name to view more details.
- If you know the leader(s), ask them for a QR code or a URL for sign up.
- Request to Join:
- On the group's detail page, you'll see a "Request to Join" button. Click this button.
- You may be prompted to provide a brief message to the group leader, introducing yourself and why you're interested in joining. Please let them know that you’re a member and how long you’ve been a member for.
- Await Leader Approval:
- Once you've submitted your request, the group leader will receive it. They may contact you to chat briefly before approving your membership.
- You will receive a notification via Church Center once your request has been approved.
